Stopping in to introduce myself.

My name is Kyle, from Woodford Virginia. I am not a competitive shooter at the moment. Mostly due to the fact I haven't been willing to travel the 4+ hours to the nearest PRS style matches I've found. I am just a recreational weekend shooter and am fortunate to have access to a farm that I can shoot out to 1,000 yards. I currently shoot a Savage 10 .308 20" in a XLR chassis with a vortex hst 6-24x50.
It's my first "precision" bolt gun and it's serving me well given the relative small amount of money I've put into it. I am also putting together a .224v semiauto but waiting for a barrel in the desired twist so it's a slow process.

Anyways, I've been an active member on a sig sauer forum for years and I enjoy it but there isn't nearly enough information regarding long guns or precision shooting over there so I decided to join here.

I am also in the process of starting a rental company that rents scopes and ar uppers. I am not advertising for it since there are probably rules regarding vendors on this forum.

See you around!

PS. what is the ideal way to post pictures here?

Welcome!

4+ hours?!  LOL  If I lived that close to a national level match, I'd be at every single one of them.  Closest ones to me have been 10+ hours.  There's one this year that's about 5 hours away for the first time ever, but I already had a match scheduled that weekend that's 14 hours away.  LOL

Sigforum?  :D

Pics - host them somewhere, and then use the insert image button.  It looks like the world's tiniest Mona Lisa, under the B button on the upper left.

As for advertising, yes, there are rules, but if you're interested, shoot me a PM.  It's very reasonable.

Oh I definitely know people that are very involved with the sport drive much further. But as far as getting into it competitively that's what has held me back for now.

my strategy is to work on my basics while shooting on my own then perhaps one day sign up for a match.

Anyways, no I'm on Sigtalk.

thanks for the tip on inserting an image.

i also just noticed a lot of the sub-forums haven't had posts in 1-2 years?!  are there not many active people on here?

Depends on the subforum and the time of year. It's still pretty early, once matches get into full swing, people drop in a bit more.

But yes, this is fairly low volume. It's only been around for less than 18 months old, and is pretty well focused on a narrow segment of the firearms space. Also, we don't stand for bullshit and typer Snipers here like some of the other sites do. ;)

LOL  while I'm glad to hear that, it wasn't meant as a warning or anything like that. Just that a lot of the riff-raff that pollutes boards (and posts a lot) isn't welcome here, so that contributes to the low traffic volume.
