I am trying to us my AB app to make some DA cards and I obviously have something wrong. The range cards my AB app is giving me didn't look right so I compared to my kestrel which I have verified and it is off. Here's some pics of what I'm getting and some of the set up screens in the AB app. I've got the DA set to match the DA my kestrel is giving. Anyone have any idea what I've got going on?

For one the kestrel won't use just DA no matter how you set it up. But I've seen this several times and usually it's something isn't the same somewhere. I'll take a closer look later but that's my first thoughts.

Try inputting everything the same from the kestrel into the ab app temp humidity everything. Also if you're inside pulling atmospherics it will be different than the ab app pulling from some airport somewhere.

I'm with Kirk.  Something isn't the same in the settings or the data input into the software.  I use AB with a Bluetooth kestrel (non AB version), and I get solid solutions via AB software.

Double check velocity and da.  Make sure you're entering da, not raw elevation.  Make sure you have the velocity the same between the two.

Also, have you trued the kestrel?  If so, did you true the software?  If not, where did the data come from?  Same bullet in both?

Doc just joined yesterday, hopefully he will see this and come offer some additional insight.

Interested to see the outcome.

I trued the kestrel by slightly adjusting the muzzle velocity to match what the actual elevation I was shooting yesterday. Is this correct?

I have went through the app several times to try to find what I have off but I'm not finding anything. Bullet, muzzle velocity, sight height, all the same. I'm using custom drag curves on the kestrel and berger's g7 coefficient in the app.

As far as DA, I'm inputting the DA the kestrel is giving me into the app to compare them to each other. I've got the automatic atmosphere update turned off in the app. This should be all I need to do correct?

I've went through each screen time and time again and can't seem to find what I've off. I know it is something, just can't seem to find it.

So I went in and turned my zero atmosphere on and set it, then may sure all my atmosphere was matching my kestrel in the other areas. It's closer now but still off.

It's been my experience that zero atmosphere is not required if you zero at only 100 yards.

However, the fact that you are no so close might be explained by the fact that you are using the custom drag curves in the kestrel, and only the straight g7 in the AB app.  Enter the drag curve info into AB and see what you get.

I was unaware of being able to use custom drag curves with the app. Thought I only had the option of g1 or g7. Where do I find the custom drag curves option in the app?

Forgive my electronics ignorance.

You can download them for $1.99 or you can enter them manually if you know the info.  Click the + next to the bc to enter another one.  You should have a bc and an associated velocity.  There's usually 3 or 4 or 5 values.

Hey all,

Best thing I ever did was to ditch the phone apps and get a Kestrel 5700 Elite with Applied Ballistics. You only need the Kestrel phone app for easily putting in new loads, updating powder temp velocities, or updating your latitude for coriolis effect.

You just need a “shoot to” range from your range finder. The Kestrel 5700 does the rest. Best solutions I have ever gotten from anything. Easiest wind dope. The bullet library is second to none. Faster for PRS competion than anything I have ever used. Very good kit.

Woolly
