Final match update.... with official times....
ANNOUNCEMENT
The first Wisconsin match of the Border Wars series will be held SUNDAY April 30th at Winnequah Gun Club in Lodi, WI. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the shooters who have signed up. Spectators are also welcome to attend!
FORMAT
We will be running an 8-stage match with approximately 80-85 rounds. Bring a few extra to be safe. If you are not familiar with the BWRS rules, please review them under the “information” tab at bwrifle.com
There will be four stages run on our high power range and four stages run on our silhouette range. Each range will accommodate two squads running at the same time. The longest distance any target will be engaged for this match is approximately 800 yards. There will be a combination of both barricade and prone stages. You will receive the course of fire the morning of the match. Range to targets will be measured by laser range finder from the point of engagement.
We will have volunteers to assist, however, we may not have enough to run every single stage... so we ask that experienced shooters in each group be willing to step up and assist when necessary.
No 'coaching' on winds or DOPE is allowed when a competitor is shooting. Only calls of 'IMPACT' or 'MISS' are allowed in the stage areas which will be the spotter’s call and spotter’s call alone. DO NOT LEAVE THE SCORING AREA UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIMRED YOUR SCORE IS CORRECT.
We will be using PRACTISCORE, with a paper backup. We do not have internet access at the club and cell reception is EXTREMELY POOR... however, you will be able to sync your devices after the match (or look on with someone else). After the match, there will be about a 20 minute period to review your scores before they are official.
SAFETY
We will run a cold range. Rifles must be unloaded, magazine out, bolt open with chamber flag when not in use. Shooters will not remove chamber flags or load rifles until directed to do so by the RO.
Shooters must be on the target berm before charging a round. “Skyloading” violations will receive a warning. Multiple violations will result in match DQ. Any rounds which leave the range will result in a stoppage of shooting and a match DQ.
When moving from position to position, even if only on the same barricade, bolts will be open and again, closed once the shooter has reasonably acquired their target. Semi-auto rifles must be switched to safe and the shooter must announce “safe” when moving to a different position. Warnings will be given by the range officer for violations. Repeated violations will result in match DQ.
Please review additional safety information on our website at bwrifle.com under “information.”
SCHEDULE
Shooters should proceed to the north entrance of the club off Hwy V near the indoor range. Shooters should then proceed through the gate and follow the signs to the registration / parking area.
Gates will open at 0730, registration and check-in will go from 0800-0900. Shooter meeting will begin at 0930 and we expect to have our first rounds downrange at 10am.
At this time, I am planning on having a zero range available from 0800-0900 which you may use after you have checked in. The zero range will have targets at 100 yards.
LUNCH
Lunch is being catered by the Sugar Shack in Lodi. It is included in your match fees. You'll get BBQ pork, chips and a drink. The business is owned by a local law enforcement officer (which is important if you're a guy like me who doesn't like spit in your food).
PRIZES
We will award trophies to the top 3 finishers. There will be NO PRIZE TABLE at this match. The July and September matches will have prize tables.

Camping is available at various locations nearby – Google is your best bet, and there are some Wisconsin State Parks in the nearby Baraboo area.
Hotels (within ~20 minute drive of the range):
There are a number of within 30 minutes of the range in Lodi, Waunakee, and Middleton. I would use care if you select a hotel on the east side of Madison near the interstate (ask me how I know….)
OTHER RESTRICTIONS
3200 fps is the maximum muzzle velocity allowed for this event (to keep our steel intact).
NO STEEL CORE OR 'GREEN TIP' OR MILITARY BALL OR RUSSIAN AMMO PERMITTED.
Typical calibers are .308, 6.5mm Creedmore, .260 Remington, 6mm Creedmore, 6.5x47 Lapua, 6x47 Lapua, 6mm Dasher.
Most magnums are NOT allowed (for instance, .338 Lapua, .300 WinMag and 7mm Rem Magnum are not allowed). As a guide, 3000 ft/lbs of energy at the muzzle (with or without muzzle brake) is the maximum reasonable load for the comfort and safety of shooters on the platform next to you in a confined area. If you are running more than about 55 grains of powder, you may not be allowed to shoot some of the stages where shooters are tightly pack on a platform or narrow shooting area, or the shorter stages where damage to target hangers is likely.
If you have questions about a load, contact us for a determination well before the match. We reserve the right to disqualify any load that may cause damage to the steel, stands, or injury to participants.
No tripods or shooting sticks for rear support.
